Artists Amongst Us 2005 Literary Arts

I am still in shock over winning my Award Of Distinction in Literary Arts for my Poem "Woman Reclining".
As I walked up to the podium on November 4th 2004 I was totally consumed with stage fright until I actually began to read my poem, or shall I say, perform it? It was the most natural thing in the world for me to do, read, and perform to a spellbound audience. I never thought I could have the impact on others like I have at this point in my literary career. To have complete strangers come up to me and ask me if I had written the poem for them is unbelievable, yet inspiring at the same time.
I want to continue inspiring others and reading to audiences like the one on November 4th. I was so happy that they prominently displayed my poem at the entrance way of the exhibit. To me, that is an extreme honor to have it right there, first piece of art that visitors see.
I definitely appreciate this award, and am so happy that Artists Among Us 2005 chose me as their first place winner. I feel that I have made a huge difference, and that this is only the beginning for me!
Stay tuned for further updates!
