"Books"

There are so many books out there to be read and written. I've acquired more books in the last couple of days. I think I'll become an offical library soon!
How about you? Have you amassed a collection to? It's neat to read all kinds of books as many of them have information in them that I'd like to learn about. I'll read almost anything that will help my writing progress to the level that I want it to now.
Happy Writing!

April is the month for poets

Are you a fledgling poet? Do you believe that the month of April influences you to craft more poetry? I know that I try to write poetry every day, and that one month shouldn't make too much difference, yet I feel that it's important for April to recognize poetry. I probably should have had a chapbook signing this month, but I've run out of time. Part of that is because I have spent this entire month perfecting my new poetry book which should be released next month.
I find that I should pay homage to poetry month as an award winning poet myself. I hope that I can continue to write a lot of poems in the next few days to make up for not writing enough this month........The ink pen is composing prose..........

April Blues

It's hard to believe that it's April 4th already. The rain is pouring outside, yet it's very cold, so it'll will probably turn into some light snow flakes shortly. This year is passing by too fast. I'd like for it to slow down a bit and give me a chance to catch up with all that I need to do.
I hope to complete my one manuscript over the next couple of days so I can have a nice book of poetry available! I've been working on it for a short while, but I need to finalize a couple of items before I send it in to the publisher. I am excited about finishing this, as I feel it will be a great experience. Of course, I want to see it on the bookshelves this year too!
As a publisher myself I've enjoyed publishing a couple of Haiku Chapbooks that are for sale. One is geared to adults and the other is a workbook for kids. The latter book has color and black and white illustrations. These will be available at my next book signing as well.
Well, I need to go write some poetry right now...............

"Dream Weaver"

Here's a short Haiku that I wrote a few moments ago. I think it's cute!

A Fresh Perspective

As the new literary publication Artisan Spirit published it's fourth issue I was pleased to see my work there sprinkled throughout it. I find that I am willing to try a new writing venture if it has a positive slant to it, and a readership that follows it as well.
Sometimes when life becomes complicated it's nice to see my Byline along side my poetry and essays or editorials. Right now the creative juices are flowing and I have a lot to write about. I started another Chapbook today, and am in the final editing stages of my poetry book. Hopefully I can complete the latter in the next few days. I want it to sell well and encourage other poets to write as well. I read a book of poems called "Essential Poems ( to fall in love with)by Daisy Goodwin. I enjoyed the compilation and found some of the poets inspirational. I was happy to see some poetry from the 16th and 17th century included. I personally am a fan of Old English. I find it fascinating the way certain artists string the words together creating nice verse.
As a College Professor I always encourage students who want to write poetry to read as much of it as possible, as well as to write it as well! I know that I need to write some imaginative words pretty soon or I'll feel like I'm not producing enough poetry. It's not that I haven't been writing at all, it's just I feel like a poetry editor right now, and I'm sick of editing my own work! I want to move onto something new. I guess only time will tell and I'll be busy penning my next award winning poem!
