Book Signings Are Fun

I've done three book signings this year and am scheduling these events through the month of June and into July at this point. It is a lot of work though. I must have enough notice to plug my events to ensure that people show up. I find that with the warm weather some individuals may not stop by as they are happily enjoying the outdoors.
Even though I've done a couple of joint book signings, I feel that flying solo at this point is in my best interest.
Since I am new to the publishing business I want to make the most of all of my opportunities, and it's kind of difficult if there's someone else to share the spotlight. I feel that when I promote myself and my work it should be a comfortable venue. I've worked hard for what I've accomplished. I didn't just slap a bunch of poems together hoping for publication. I spent a lot of time refining, revising, and even deleting some of my work for my book of poetry, and my three chapbooks.
As an author/publisher/editor/photographer I will never tell you that my first shot at anything is perfect. I know that my work is a work of art, it needs to be molded into something precious and dynamite. For example, I am extremely picky when it comes to my photography. I may have a lot of nice shots, but, for me, there's usually only a couple that I feel are worthy of frames, or printing in a book. I want my work to stand above the crowd, and catch the reader's or artist's eye.
As a competitive writer I will always strive for excellence and will produce the best work possible for my audience. It's important that my readers enjoy my work and come back to read more!

New Book Musings

My book is published!!! "Woman Reclining" made an official debut on May 31st 2006!
You can find it online through Barnesandnoble.com, Borders.com, Amazon.com and many other sites!
I look forward to receiving my author copies and adding this book of poetry to my line of chapbook publications that I've been selling over the past few months.
I am exicted that this book is available now and that I can promote it and continue on my writing journey. I feel that as an author one way to keep writer's block at bay is to keep on writing! I have a lot of stories to tell, poems to write, and nonfiction books to produce as well. I am hoping that this year will be one where I publish a couple of books.
I've had another book in the works for quite a while, and I need to move forward with that one as well............
I figure I'll start my book signings in July as June will be busy. At this time I have one signing lined up for June and we'll see how that one goes as well!
For those who were interested in my last entry regarding the war contest, I did do it! I finalized my entry at 11:59 pm online, one minute shy of the deadline. Yikes.......Actually that's how I work best, last minute Annee.............
