Chapbooks

I hope to create another edition of my workbook for kids, which will be longer and contain more instruction for teachers and parents. I may begin work on it in the next month or two depending on time.
Right now I have the usual, immediate deadlines for contest entries! Those deadlines make me work hard and sometimes I actually write my best pieces.
In addition, I've got to figure out if I'll be available for any book signings in August as I have a lot to do in that month. It seems as if time is going by quicker than the speed of light. I have more to do and less time to do it in. Of course, that's something everyone says these days!
Once I delved into the publishing business my routine has changed a bit as I'm trying to reach a diverse audience and develop a following. It's a big job for one person. I really wish I had a team to work with me right now as I could use some help..............
Well, I must continue on my writing journey...................

Photos

I've framed a couple more photos for my book signing tomorrow. I figure both of the pictures are attention getters-one of my cat Chloe "Beau", and the other, a cute camel should encourage book shoppers to stop by my table and take a peek. It would be wonderful if they bought a book or two.
I was speaking with a relative last evening who was telling me how happy she is with my book of poetry, "Woman Reclining". She spoke about a couple of the pieces saying that she "gets lost in them". "I enjoyed the one poem with the lapping water by the lake, and the clouds that describe the scenery." "I also like the environmental poems too", she said. Of course her favorites were the cat poems where she mentioned that she shed a tear or two. She enjoys the Haiku and likes to go back and read them over again to absorb the words and the meaning behind them.
I was pleased that my work brought happiness and a way to relax to one of my very first readers!

Book Musings

I am happy to report that I sold another book this evening. I will be sending out press packets to some of the major book retailers so that they'll notice my book, and the potential it has to bring in to each book store wonderful sales. Even though poetry is considered a tough genre to sell, I firmly believe that it's how you approach the subject matter as there are many poetic forms, and as many diverse readers.
I want to re-introduce writers and readers alike to poetry, or as I like to call it, story telling. A good poem is like a short story, or a piece of non-fiction. When the reader has completed reading my poem, they understand what it's about, and can learn from it, or at least enjoy it!

Feature Story

Since my book has been published I've had a couple of stories written about me, and hopefully the one published today will encourage everyone to purchase a copy of my newly released book of poetry, "Woman Reclining". It's available through Amazon.com, barnes&noble.com, borders.com, etc. My book has a nice ocean front and back cover, and of course, the color is a nice blue. I hope you'll log onto http://outskirtspress.com/womanreclining to learn more about this wonderful book of poetry. I wrote it for a diverse audience as I want to reach all poetry lovers and those who enjoy a good piece of literature.
The book was a labor of love and something that I'd do all over again!
I look forward to nice book sales.....................

More on Writing

How much have you written this week? Have you entered any writing contests lately? I know that I've got some catching up to do once I complete the deadline I am on today. I am vying for a prestigious award and am finalizing my entry this morning. All I need to do is get it into the mail!
What's neat is that fellow colleagues and clients have nominated me for this award and wrote compelling words as to why I deserve to win it. My goal is not so much to win, as it is to keep my name, and my work in the spotlight. As I am promoting my new book and other products, it's important that the judges and committee members see what I do and how much I've accomplished in a short time. Once I submit, I'll forget about it!
I figure a short blog entry would inspire me to complete the task at hand!
My printer will probably need a new ink cartridge in a day or two.......................

July Musings

Well, I've completed one more assignment........I think I need a break, maybe a day off........Nah.........Now, I await publication once again...............I've got plenty to do, and never enough time to do it in............Perhaps this weekend I'll work on something else, or take a break and write some poetry.......Actually I have a non-fiction article for young adults that I've begun researching and will try to pen some words. I'm also researching General Nathanael Green a revolutionary War hero from Rhode Island. I'm intrigued by this famous man........
I'll be revising some of my War poetry and creating new works as well. I may submit some pieces to another contest to see what will happen. I find that competition keeps me writing, and producing enough materials to stay extremely busy. I also need to start working on my poems and photographs for the Eloise Project. I did one small revision of a piece about a week and a half ago, but, haven't touched it since.
The writing and authoring life continues...........

Car Cruise

My day was busy as usual. I spent a bit more time this evening working on a story that's due in a couple of days. Hopefully my photos will illustrate my words extremely well.
I'm pretty picky when I chose a photo or two to illustrate my work. I'll make my final decisions tomorrow night, or early Friday morning. I've got a lot of writing to do tomorrow, as, I need to turn it in.........
Sometimes I find it easier to compose a story if I write a couple of lines before I actually draft my first version. I may open a file and pen a few words.........
Yes, I think I will.........

More On My New Book

It's hard to believe that my book has been available now for a month. Time is flying by so fast, that, the next time I post a blog entry it'll be in September. I actually would like to post more entries, but I have been so busy writing and promoting my new book. I know, I know, enough of the excuses. I need to keep my readership informed of my latest activities. Of course I am always entering contests and coming up with more topics to write about. I have some things to write about this week, including my work deadlines..........
After visiting the traveling wall today, I came up with some more ideas to write about. Hopefully I'll have time to reconnect with my thoughts later on today........
I have organized a new poetry/literary arts group that will be open to flegling writers and established ones as well to showcase their individual works or those of other writers. I am hoping that this new group will flower into something big.......
Stay tuned for that................
I will be sending out press releases about it this week and next week. I scheduled it the day after my next book signing so that if someone purchases the book and wants to read some of their work, they may feel comfortable doing so.
I think that's all for now.........
