It's been too cold...........

I can't stand the cold weather! Can you tell, perhaps by the lead in..........At any rate I've been busy composing during this frigid weather. I am happy to report that my poem, "From Farmland To Ikea" is up and running on the Canton Newcomer's web site under the 35th birthday celebration. How cool is that? At any rate, my poem is well received, and I'd like to enter it somewhere........I'll work on that shortly...........
Yesterday I was able to view the interview about me and my book "Woman Reclining", on thedetroiter.com. To read this piece, click onto the icon, and you'll be able to open it right up, and see me listed under the lit listings.
I need to make some copies of that for my portfolio and to add to my press clippings file. Hopefully it'll help promote my book.
The reason it's been a while since I've written anything here is I've been out of town visiting both of the exhibits in which my artwork is displayed in. One is the Anton Art Center in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and the other is in Grand Rapids, Michigan. These are two completely different shows, and a lot of complex and interesting art in them. Last weekend we stayed in Grand Rapids for a day and a half, and prior to that we were in Mt. Clemens. Yesterday we went back to Mt. Clemens so I could observe my piece in a quiet setting as there were a lot of people in attendance for that artists reception. I missed the one in Grand Rapids as it was held the same night. At any rate, I sold a book there yesterday to one of the ladies who works at the center as a volunteer. She suggested that I should contact someone to put some of my books in the store. I think that's a fine idea..........
At any rate, I've been busy teaching and composing, and will wrap up one my writing classes this week. I'll begin another one next week, and hopefully inspire those who want to write children's literature to do that too!
I'm looking for the winter thaw to begin soon.......

Birthday Wishes

Well, I really wish it had been a bit warmer on my birthday, February 5, 2007. I don't recall the last time I've encountered such an arctic chill here in Michigan. Again, I do not reside in the northern part of the state where the extreme temperatures are popular, I am closer to Detroit and not too far from Ohio.......At any rate most of my students decided to skip my French class that evening, and I had a total of one student. Boy did she learn a lot of French...........
I did meet my goal of writing my poem, "From Farmland To Ikea", and I presented it tonight to the Canton Newcomer's 35th birthday celebration. It went well. I was told by the Newcomer's Vice President that she never imagined that I'd write such a thorough and in depth poem. I told her, I like research and I wanted it to reflect the group's activities over the past 35 years....I had to rush out of my class to make it there to read it by 8:40pm or so, and I was hoarse by the time I got there. Sometimes it is easier to present materials with a microphone in hand..........
At any rate I didn't race through the poem when I wrote it, and had to make a couple of revisions, but, I am very happy with the final copy! Yey!
In addition, I found out today that I am in another art exhibit which is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the art on display is in my book, "Woman Reclining". I have two artist's receptions to chose from this Friday, the one in Grand Rapids, or the one in Mt. Clemens. I'll probably go to the latter first, and then take a trip to Grand Rapids on Saturday. The religious show in Grand Rapids lasts only for two weeks, so I'd like to spend a little bit of time there this weekend, as I won't have an opportunity to go back before the show closes.
Well, the muse is signing off for today. Perhaps I'll pen a few more words soon, but, my poem, and other writings have kept me very busy.........Maybe I'll take a day off.............
