Spring Is Here

I have reveled in the warm weather over the past couple of days, as I enjoy the rebirth that spring brings to all of us!
I've been busy crafting stories, writing another chapbook that I hope to publish soon. After that, it'll be turned into a full length book for publication. That'll be one of my goals for the next couple of months!
As the owner of a small business my life consists of work, networking, writing press releases, more work, book signings, teaching, course designing, and taking photographs.
All of these activities can eat away at time during the day, and on the weekends, but, in the end it is what I will do whenever possible.
I actually drew a picture that I want to submit to a project that I am involved in. I'll probably submit my poem first and then continue to create another draft of the sketch. At any rate that'll keep me busy!
Today I was part of a book signing hosted by ASA publishing, located in Westland, Michigan. It was an enjoyable event. I feel that all writers and publishers should network whenever possible.
As an author and publisher it's an adventure for sure.
Over the next couple of days I'll be designing more materials for my new class, "Writing Your Life Story/Family History. As I had researched some familial history many years ago, I've found that with the invention of the Internet, some of my research can be pursued online. Of course, I'm still the pen and ink lady who likes to pour over books and research them thoroughly for any tidbit of information that's available.
One aspect that I am going to focus on in my new class is teaching the students how to interview their family members. A lot of grandparents are interested in talking about their lives, and for someone to put their voice down on paper is a great way to keep the family story alive.
Happy writing to you all!

Short Story Musings

I had a blast writing a 750 word story for a contest..........It took me about twenty minutes to draft it, and then I worked on revisions for a while. The reason that it was fairly simple for me to do this is I had thought about writing this particular piece for close to two weeks. I had brainstormed internally before actually putting the ink on paper. Plus, I like waiting until the last minute to compose as that seems to work best for me. It also is indicative of my "thinking" style, versus writing a lot of dribble down that I'd have to sort through later. That to me is a complete waste of time, and as busy as I am, I really don't have any spare time to do it. For example, it's 1:00am in the morning, and I am writing this blog entry. I know if I don't do it now, it'll be a while before I get to it, as I have a lot of writing, teaching, marketing, and editing to do this week...............
At any rate, I hope to accomplish some of my writing goals this week..........How about you?
That's all for this entry. Happy writing!

New Post

I've been working hard on new courses and developing content for them. I've come up with a few compelling ideas to write about. Hopefully the month of March will go by smoothly and allow me the opportunity to perfect my craft.
Later today we have to pick up a piece of my art in Mt. Clemens as the exhibit is now closed. I'll write more about that exhibit again at a later date. I enjoyed studying the art and jotting down some notes for future writing projects.
One thing I figure is with one of my chapbooks/books I'm working on, I'm going to incorporate the four seasons into it for some lesson plans.............I think that'll be kind of neat!
